Software Engineer II (TypeScript/AWS)

Location: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; hybrid work model with onsite work at least 50% of the time for employees within commuting distance of a hirify.global office.

Salary: $110,000–$120,000 CAD per year

What you will do

• Design and implement secure, scalable, high-performing serverless microservices on AWS using TypeScript.
• Build event-driven, highly observable services with infrastructure as code and deep integration with AWS services.
• Own services end to end, from architecture and implementation through monitoring and continuous improvement.
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs, improve development and delivery workflows, and support continuous production deployment.
• Collaborate through pairing, planning, Agile execution, architectural discussions, documentation, and technical presentations.
• Use AI tools for coding, debugging, testing, research, and code reviews while validating outputs and applying judgment.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of professional software engineering experience in an Agile, fast-paced environment.
• Hands-on AWS experience and familiarity with infrastructure as code, such as CDK or Terraform.
• Strong backend development experience with Node.js, TypeScript, RESTful APIs, Git, and SQL databases such as PostgreSQL.
• Understanding of core AI concepts, including tokens, context length, embeddings, hallucinations, high-level LLM behavior, and safe versus unsafe use cases.
• Experience using AI to improve productivity, prompt engineering, and responsible evaluation of AI outputs for bias, cost, ethics, privacy, security, and fairness.
• Frontend familiarity with React or Angular and the ability to communicate and document architectural decisions clearly.
