Sr. Software Engineer (Node)

Location: Remote, but must be located in the Chicago area; onsite interviews may be required. Applicants for US-based positions must be authorized to work in the United States.

Salary: $118,600–$148,250 per year, plus potential bonus and/or equity depending on role and level.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and optimize high-performance API-based backend services for the Dealer Inspire platform.
• Enhance legacy services and build scalable, secure, reliable systems that meet service-level objectives.
• Own the health and uptime of business-critical production systems, participate in on-call rotations, and conduct postmortems.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineering teams, infrastructure teams, and lead engineers on technical requirements and architecture.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, security practices, and observability solutions.
• Document API designs, system architectures, and operational procedures, while mentoring junior engineers.

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend development experience designing, building, and operating large-scale, highly available systems.
• Experience with microservices, RESTful APIs, event-driven systems, and backend architecture patterns.
• Experience with Node.js and NestJS, plus React and TypeScript.
• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis caching, Kafka, and unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, production deployment, monitoring, and scaling.
• Willingness to participate in on-call rotations and experience with observability, DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated testing, and production security.

• Experience with PHP and WordPress.
