Staff Software Engineer - App & Cloud Security

Location: On-site in the New York office, United States

Salary: $200,000–$275,000 per year, plus equity and benefits

What you will do

• Establish cloud security capabilities across AWS, including account organization, identity and access frameworks, network separation, and protected service communication.
• Develop Terraform-based security architecture, reusable modules, paved roads, and automated guardrails.
• Build scalable cloud identity solutions covering workload identities, service accounts, role assumption, RBAC, and access across environments.
• Secure production Kubernetes and container environments through cluster hardening, workload identity, image assurance, and runtime safeguards.
• Translate SOC 2, HIPAA, and customer requirements into automated technical controls, evidence collection, monitoring, remediation, incident response, and recovery.
• Protect AI agents, sensitive client data, production systems, endpoints, corporate identities, networks, physical access, and vendors.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience building or securing software and infrastructure in production environments.
• Hands-on AWS security experience, including IAM, networking, Linux, containers, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, secrets management, encryption, logging, and vulnerability management.
• Experience building or improving authentication, authorization, RBAC, ABAC, multi-tenant isolation, or other security-critical product infrastructure.
• Ability to identify risks, write and deploy solutions, and operate the resulting systems in a hands-on engineering role.
• Strong judgment, clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and the ability to prioritize meaningful risks without unnecessary processes.
• Ability to work on-site in the New York office.

Nice to have

• Experience preparing for SOC 2 or HIPAA.
• At least two years at the same company in a prior role, with demonstrated promotions, growth, or meaningful recognition.
• Experience using AI to increase engineering output.
