Finance Data Lead (Fintech)

Location: San Francisco, CA, United States; hybrid

Salary: $210,000–$250,000 per year, plus equity grant

What you will do

• Own financial data workflows from sourcing and transforming raw data through clean, auditable outputs in Excel and BI tools.
• Build and maintain financial models and dashboards covering origination volumes, revenue run rates, and portfolio performance.
• Respond to ad hoc data requests from Finance, Product, and GTM with accurate analysis and clear documentation.
• Use AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, and Copilot to accelerate analysis and automate repetitive work.
• Partner with Engineering and Data teams to improve financial data structure, accessibility, and governance.
• Support external reporting for investors, lenders, and board-level stakeholders while maintaining reconciliation logic and audit trails.

Requirements

• 4–7 years of experience in a data-heavy role, such as data analyst, analytics engineer, or technically strong financial analyst.
• Expert-level Excel and Google Sheets skills, including complex models, dynamic arrays, and pivot tables.
• Strong SQL skills, including independently writing and optimizing queries against large datasets.
• Hands-on experience with modern AI tools and an interest in applying them to financial workflows.
• Fluency in corporate finance concepts such as EBITDA, working capital, and structured finance, with discretion when handling sensitive financial data.
• Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to translate complex datasets into clear narratives.

Nice to have

• Experience in fintech, lending, or structured finance, including loan tapes, origination data, or SPV structures.
• Proficiency in Python or R for data manipulation and automation.
• Experience with BI tools such as Looker, Tableau, or Mode.
• Exposure to dbt, Airflow, or similar data pipeline tooling.
