Data Lead

Location: Hybrid in New York City, with office attendance required three days per week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday

Salary: $180,000–$210,000 annually, plus equity

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of three data analysts and engineers while remaining hands-on.
• Own the end-to-end data platform, including pipelines, warehouse, transformation layer, BI tooling, reliability, and scalability.
• Define and maintain core metrics covering enrollment, engagement, completion, certification, placement, CAC, LTV, and retention.
• Build dashboards and self-service analytics for teams across the organization.
• Partner with Growth and Product on experiment design, instrumentation, and A/B test analysis.
• Deliver strategic analyses and establish scalable data governance and quality practices.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience across analytics and data engineering, including at least 2+ years managing a team.
• Experience as a player-coach who sets direction, manages people, and ships hands-on work.
• Expert SQL and strong Python skills.
• Hands-on experience with modern data tools such as dbt, Snowflake or BigQuery, Airflow, and Looker or Metabase.
• Experience designing and analyzing experiments in a high-growth environment.
• Strong product, business, and communication skills, including the ability to explain complex findings to non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience building or scaling a data function at an early- or growth-stage startup.
• Experience with marketing attribution or funnel analytics at scale.
• Experience in EdTech, healthcare, or another mission-driven industry.
