Senior Analytics Engineer (BigQuery/dbt)

What you will do

• Own and extend the production data warehouse supporting executive KPIs, marketing attribution, funnel analytics, and internal operations tools.
• Build and maintain approximately 100 dbt models in BigQuery, including staging, intermediate, marts, SCD Type 2 dimensions, fact tables, and aggregate tables.
• Operate Airflow 3 pipelines with Slack alerting, data-quality tests, freshness monitoring, and backfills.
• Maintain CDC ingestion from production PostgreSQL using Debezium, Kafka Connect on GKE, Airbyte, and Fivetran.
• Serve warehouse data through Hasura GraphQL for internal product tools and through Metabase for dashboards and self-service analysis.
• Translate complex operational processes into documented, tested tables and metrics while working with leadership, marketing, and operations stakeholders.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience building analytics or data platforms with expert-level SQL.
• Production dbt experience and strong dimensional-modeling skills, including explicit grain, SCD Type 2 dimensions, and fact tables.
• Experience operating Airflow or a similar orchestrator and comfort with Python.
• Ability to reverse-engineer production schemas, interview stakeholders, model ambiguous business logic, and work independently.
• Strong technical documentation skills and the ability to own a data platform day to day.

Nice to have

• Experience with Debezium, Airbyte, Kafka Connect, Kubernetes, or Helm.
• BigQuery performance and cost tuning experience.
• Hasura, GraphQL, reverse ETL, or embedding warehouse data into product surfaces.
• Metabase or Looker administration experience.
• Experience as an early or solo data hire at a startup and familiarity with AI-assisted development workflows.
