Principal Systems Engineer (Fusion Energy)

Salary: $201,450–$237,000 per year

What you will do

• Provide technical guidance and oversight for system functionality, development, and implementation.
• Own and maintain integrated technical baselines, requirements, architecture, documentation, analysis products, and bidirectional traceability.
• Architect verification and validation frameworks across data dashboards, engineering tools, Confluence, and Jira.
• Define system interfaces, use cases, infrastructure, and lifecycle documentation for facilities and complex systems.
• Coordinate integration across new development and legacy systems, including release development, testing, and technical decision-making.
• Conduct risk assessments and develop specialty-engineering strategies covering operability, reliability, maintainability, and supportability.

Requirements

• B.S. degree in engineering or another technical field.
• 15+ years of Systems Engineering or Software Engineering experience.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams and owning integrated technical baselines for complex systems throughout the Systems Engineering Lifecycle.
• Experience with large, complex, integrated systems or facilities, preferably in fusion energy, aerospace, space, defense, or related industries.
• Strong experience in simulation, software, data analysis, rapid technology development, integration, and testing.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted refugee or asylee.

Nice to have

• Experience defining, designing, and activating large assembly, integration, and testing facilities.
• Experience with high-energy laser systems, optics, or fusion energy systems.
• Project management, labor estimating, schedule management, and configuration management experience.
