Location: Rockville, Maryland / Gaithersburg, Maryland; 4β5 days in office. Standard hours are 8:00amβ5:00pm ET, MondayβFriday, with up to 10% travel as needed.
Salary: $185,000β$210,000 per year.

What you will do
- Oversee configuration and data management across multiple projects, including planning, identification, change control, status accounting, verification, audits, and data management.
- Review hardware and software changes and ensure updates are evaluated, approved, documented, and incorporated into controlled configuration baselines.
- Maintain configuration status records, parts and revision lists, product baselines, and lifecycle traceability data, including serial and lot numbers.
- Coordinate engineering, manufacturing, quality, and data control teams to keep approved design information and released engineering changes aligned.
- Conduct configuration audits and assessments, identify discrepancies, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous process improvement.
- Develop digital tools, databases, and workflow processes to improve configuration data accuracy, accessibility, and visibility.
Requirements
- Bachelorβs degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
- Typically 15+ years of progressive experience in configuration management, engineering change control, document control, product data management, or a related discipline.
- Experience managing configuration records, engineering changes, traceability data, product lifecycles, and systems engineering activities in complex technical environments.
- Strong understanding of configuration baselines, change control, status accounting, audits, traceability, data integrity, and controlled documentation.
- Experience working across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and operations, preferably in regulated or safety-critical industries such as nuclear, aerospace, defense, energy, or advanced manufacturing.
- Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital configuration or enterprise systems.
Nice to have
- Experience with configuration management standards and practices such as ISO, ANSI, or CMII.
- Experience with PLM, especially Teamcenter, as well as ERP systems such as Costpoint or SAP and MES platforms.
- Experience implementing configuration databases, workflow automation, document traceability systems, and cross-functional change adoption.
- Experience in nuclear, aerospace, defense, medical device, or other safety-critical environments.
