TL;DR
Systems Engineer (Fusion Energy): Integrating first-of-a-kind fusion energy technologies and converting functional requirements into scalable system architectures with an accent on requirements management, interfaces, configuration control, and cross-disciplinary engineering coordination. Focus on developing verification and validation processes, managing system design lifecycles, and coordinating HAZOP and FMECA programs for complex mechanical, electrical, and fluid systems.

Location: Kearny, New Jersey, United States. Workplace: On-site

Salary: $85,000–$150,000 per year

hirify.global is developing a commercial fusion energy approach based on computer-controlled arrays of planar coils and stellarator physics.

What you will do

  • Develop system and interface requirements, protocols, procedures, and scalable execution strategies.
  • Coordinate engineering and physics teams in the design and integration of mechanical, electrical, fluid, and related systems.
  • Manage system configuration control, product breakdown structures, interfaces, technical decisions, and change impacts.
  • Support technical, schedule, cost, and performance analysis across development programs.
  • Coordinate suppliers, vendors, manufacturing engineering teams, design reviews, and program management activities.
  • Develop verification, validation, design lifecycle, HAZOP, FMECA, and design integration processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field.
  • 5+ years of systems engineering experience.
  • Experience integrating large industrial or first-of-a-kind R&D projects.
  • Experience across mechanical, electrical, and fluid systems.
  • Familiarity with building, testing, troubleshooting, and scaling complex mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, autonomy, prioritization, and problem-solving skills; ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.

Nice to have

  • Experience with cryogenic, heating, fluid, vacuum, power electronics, or control systems.
