Lead Experimental Physicist (Quantum Computing)

Location: On-site in Broomfield, Colorado, United States. Candidates must be U.S. Persons and must not be People's Republic of China or Russian nationals unless also U.S. citizens.

Salary: $160,000–$200,000 annually, inclusive of bonus target.

What you will do

• Conduct laboratory experiments and collect performance data for ion-based quantum computing methods and hardware prototypes.
• Lead and mentor scientists and engineers working on quantum sensing, information, and computing systems.
• Review scientific results, identify improvements, and define directions for further investigation.
• Perform design trade studies, modeling, and technical analyses.
• Present research results internally, at conferences, and in publications.
• Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets aligned with company strategy.

Requirements

• Ph.D. completed before the start date.
• At least 8 years of experience, including Ph.D. experience, in quantum computing, quantum information, quantum sensing, or atomic physics.
• Experience leading cross-functional technical teams delivering complex, high-impact projects.
• Must be a U.S. Person, such as a U.S. citizen, permanent resident or green card holder, or person granted asylum or refugee status.
• Must not be a People's Republic of China or Russian national unless also a U.S. citizen.
• Applicants for this safety-sensitive position must complete a pre-employment drug test.

Nice to have

• 10+ years of experience in scientific R&D, engineering, or leadership.
• Experience with laser cooling and trapping, laser systems, optical cavities, and feedback loops.
• Experience with simulation and modeling, cryogenic systems, ultra-high vacuum, electro-optic devices, and micro-optical systems.
• Published research results and excellent written and oral communication skills.
