Critical Environments Operator (Level 1-4) - NIGHT SHIFT

Location: San Antonio, TX, United States; onsite data center environment with rotating overnight shifts of 8 or 10 hours and 24/7/365 emergency response availability.

What you will do

• Monitor and operate data center mechanical, electrical, and HVAC/R systems to maintain uptime and reliability.
• Respond to building system alarms, protect critical loads, preserve equipment, and perform root cause analysis.
• Execute preventive maintenance work orders and follow SOPs, MOPs, EOPs, and MMRs.
• Use a CMMS to track work orders, labor hours, and preventive maintenance activities.
• Coordinate contractors and vendors while enforcing Lockout/Tagout and other safety protocols.
• Perform critical switching, operational modifications, safe working area setup, and—at senior levels—mentor operators and support capacity planning.

Requirements

• Ability to work overnight shifts on a rotating schedule, including 24/7/365 coverage, on-call rotation, and emergency extended hours.
• Level I: 0–2 years in operations, maintenance, or customer service; no prior data center experience required.
• Level II: 3–5 years in Tier 2, 3, or 4 data centers or technical facility maintenance, with entry-level electrical, mechanical, or HVAC/R skills.
• Level III: 5–7 years of data center or building engineering experience with journeyman-level technical skills and independent troubleshooting ability.
• Level IV: 7+ years of relevant experience with journeyman- or master-level expertise; active HVAC certification or Journeyman/Master Electrician license preferred.
• Strong safety mindset, communication, problem-solving, computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform extensive walking, bending, and standing.
