TL;DR
Data Center Critical Operations Engineering Technician (Electrical/HVAC/Mechanical Systems): Operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting mission-critical data center infrastructure including HVAC, chilled water, UPS equipment, generators, and critical power distribution with an accent on uptime, safety, and operational efficiency. Focus on diagnosing integrated mechanical, electrical, and control systems, responding to facility events, and coordinating preventive maintenance, vendors, and system improvements.

Location: Rockdale, Texas; onsite in a data center environment. The role may require day, swing, or night shifts based on operational needs.

What you will do

  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, HVAC, chilled water, UPS, generator, power distribution, and controls systems.
  • Monitor control room systems, diagnose alerts, respond to facility events, and identify equipment risks, faults, and inefficiencies.
  • Complete work orders in the asset management system and execute preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Author procedures, support maintenance planning, and recommend system improvements or upgrades.
  • Coordinate onsite vendor and contractor activities, including scheduling, oversight, and adherence to site standards.
  • Follow PPE, OSHA, and internal safety requirements while maintaining clean and safe work areas.

Requirements

  • Technical experience in electrical, HVAC, mechanical, controls, or a related maintenance field; applicable experience ranges from 0–2+ years for Tech I to 6+ years for Tech III.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, integrated building, and control systems, with troubleshooting experience appropriate to the technician level.
  • Experience in critical environments such as data centers, healthcare, manufacturing, or power facilities is required for Tech II and preferred for Tech III.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and technical drawings and use asset management or maintenance tracking systems for applicable technician levels.
  • Trade certification or state licensure in electrical or HVAC is required for Tech II, while advanced certifications or licensure are expected for Tech III.
  • Ability to work onsite, stand and walk for extended periods, work in heat and high noise, and lift or move equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
