Integration Engineer (Quantum Computing Hardware)

Location: On-site in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, United States; up to 10% travel, primarily to Colorado

Salary: $89,600–$112,000 annually

What you will do

• Integrate and verify quantum computer control hardware in a laboratory environment.
• Develop test plans for verification and validation of RF, analog, digital, and interconnected control subsystems.
• Collaborate with physicists and multidisciplinary engineering teams to diagnose and resolve control-system issues affecting quantum operations.
• Support validation of trapped-ion and laser systems to the level required for quantum operations.
• Complete technical projects on time with limited supervision.
• Travel up to 10%, primarily to the Colorado site.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in physics, software engineering, electrical engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience, including work with RF or electronic laboratory hardware; academic experience is accepted.
• Must be a U.S. Person: a U.S. citizen, permanent resident or green card holder, or worker granted asylum or refugee status.
• Due to U.S. Government national security requirements, candidates must not be nationals of the People’s Republic of China or Russia unless also a U.S. citizen.
• Understanding of control hardware and relevant software interfaces.
• Safety-sensitive placement requires a pre-employment drug test.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
• Python proficiency and experience developing software for Linux and Windows.
• Experience writing low-level device drivers for SPI, I2C, and high-speed serial interfaces.
• Experience with optical, cryogenic, or vacuum hardware and typical laboratory equipment.
• Experience with software testing and deployment tools.
