TL;DR
IC Validation Engineer (Quantum Computing): Characterizing and supporting cryo-CMOS integrated circuits for integration with quantum devices, with an accent on electronics measurement, experimental design, and data analysis. Focus on developing automated measurement routines, debugging hardware and software, and analyzing multi-die circuit performance at deep-cryogenic temperatures.

Location: Maryland, US; the role is based at the Maryland College Park quantum hub.

What you will do

  • Characterize cryo-CMOS integrated circuits across multiple dies and support their integration with quantum devices.
  • Design experiments and document measurements, analyses, conclusions, application requirements, and user guides.
  • Debug hardware and software systematically and effectively.
  • Develop automated measurement and data-analysis routines for scalable IC performance characterization.
  • Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and technical experts in a growing quantum-computing environment.

Requirements

  • Experience with bench-level electronic test and measurement equipment, including SMUs, VNAs, amplifiers, and oscilloscopes.
  • Proficiency in reading circuit schematics and applying a methodical approach to circuit debugging.
  • Advanced programming and data-analysis skills, including knowledge of Python, C, or a similar language.
  • Knowledge of analogue and mixed-signal circuit operation, CMOS device physics, and process technologies.
  • Degree in Electrical, Electronic, and/or Computer Engineering.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and self-management skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience with cryogenic electronics or semiconductor spin-based quantum devices.
  • Advanced statistical analysis expertise.
  • Experience in IC Applications Engineering or IC Product Engineering.
  • High-frequency device characterization, including RF or noise measurements.
  • Knowledge of SOI processes, fabrication technologies, or machine-learning techniques and libraries.
