What you will do

  • Set up, operate, and maintain laser cutters, press brakes, rollers, English wheels, shrinker-stretchers, and related sheet metal forming tools.
  • Read engineering drawings, blueprints, flat patterns, and work instructions to fabricate components to dimensional and quality requirements.
  • Perform precision inspection using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, thread gauges, and radius gauges.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and design engineers to develop and improve processes for complex flight hardware.
  • Perform drilling, riveting, and fastening operations, as well as preventive maintenance and equipment troubleshooting.
  • Train operators, improve documentation and tooling designs, and maintain a safe, organized production workspace.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
  • 3+ years of experience operating and maintaining machinery in precision manufacturing or aerospace fabrication.
  • Ability to read technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
  • Mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and proficiency with sheet metal cutting, forming, and finishing equipment.
  • Ability to work independently, collaborate with engineers and technicians, and maintain precision under tight deadlines.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, work in varied positions, and work overtime or weekends as needed.

Nice to have

  • Technical training or trade certification in sheet metal fabrication.
  • Experience with flight hardware, aerospace-grade sheet metal, or high-mix, low-volume production.
  • CAD/CAM or flat pattern software experience, including Teamcenter, NX, TruTops Boost, or IGEMS.
  • Knowledge of MES, GD&T under ASME Y14.5, Lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement.
