TL;DR
Construction Project Engineer (Electrical, I &C) (Nuclear Construction): Executing the full lifecycle of electrical and instrumentation-and-control construction for a TRISO coated-particle fuel fabrication facility with an accent on design coordination, field execution, safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. Focus on translating engineering deliverables into construction work packages, resolving non-conformances and field changes, controlling materials and quantities, and coordinating system turnover to operations.

Location: Oak Ridge, Tennessee, United States. 5 days a week onsite, Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm. The role may require travel and relocation as needed.

Salary: $110,000–$135,000 per year base salary.

What you will do

  • Interpret electrical and instrumentation-and-control design drawings and specifications and translate them into Construction Work Packages for field personnel.
  • Coordinate construction activities for heavy industrial electrical distribution, instrumentation installation, control system integration, and related plant systems.
  • Ensure field work follows HS&E guidelines, regulatory codes, quality assurance plans, and nuclear or industrial safety requirements.
  • Oversee material receipt, inspection, storage, quantity tracking, and progress validation against project budgets.
  • Manage non-conformance reports and field changes, analyze trends, and mitigate schedule and cost risks.
  • Coordinate with superintendents, design consultants, project controls, the client, and the Startup team through system turnover and operational handover.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Mechanical, Nuclear, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Typically 5+ years of experience in heavy construction or nuclear engineering.
  • Ability to interpret complex engineering plans and specifications, with strong communication and risk-management skills.
  • Familiarity with nuclear facility requirements, DOE orders, NRC requirements, or commercial nuclear standards.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and strong organization, time management, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work onsite at an active construction site and meet physical demands, including walking, standing, climbing, crouching, and occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.

Nice to have

  • Experience with P6 or equivalent scheduling software.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or equivalent CAD software.
  • Experience developing junior team members.
