TL;DR
Technical Lead, Electrical Systems (Nuclear Energy): Leading electrical systems design, engineering handoffs, procurement oversight, and interface coordination for TerraPower’s Natrium nuclear plant with an accent on Class 1E standards, nuclear quality assurance, and technical schedule management. Focus on reviewing complex electrical deliverables, resolving cross-disciplinary design constraints, supporting licensing content, and coordinating EPC contractors and suppliers.

Location: Bellevue, Washington, United States; collaboration with an EPC contractor in Reston, Virginia. Travel required: 0–10%. Relocation assistance is available.

Salary: $138,685–$208,027 per year, specific to Washington State.

What you will do

  • Lead electrical systems design activities, including procurement specifications, requirements documents, system design descriptions, FMEA, calculations, and single-line diagrams.
  • Review engineering deliverables for technical accuracy, procedural compliance, and effects on construction cost and schedule.
  • Coordinate technical and organizational handoffs across electrical, mechanical, nuclear, and I&C disciplines.
  • Provide technical direction to EPC partners, subcontractors, and suppliers and review supplier submittals.
  • Support nuclear licensing content, including Operating License Application sections and responses to Requests for Additional Information.
  • Manage assigned activities in the Integrated Master Control Schedule and lead contractor or staff-augmentation personnel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent; an advanced degree is a plus.
  • At least 10 years of direct electrical systems experience, including nuclear plant electrical systems design.
  • Familiarity with Class 1E standards, including IEEE 308, 323, 344, 379, 383, 384, and 741.
  • Experience with nuclear quality assurance and design control, including 10 CFR 50 Appendix B and ASME NQA-1.
  • Experience with systems engineering, configuration management, technical schedule management, and competing design constraints.
  • Experience with Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or an equivalent project management tool; proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Professional.

Nice to have

  • Experience with ETAP, AutoCAD Standard, AutoCAD Electrical, or SolidWorks.
  • Advanced engineering degree.
