CDU & Mechanical Systems Specialist

What you will do

• Lead the operation and maintenance of critical mechanical systems, including CDUs, air-cooled chillers, pumps, VFDs, cooling towers, RTUs, AHUs, and fan walls.
• Guide CDU maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and performance optimization to maintain cooling distribution and system reliability.
• Develop cooling strategies that maintain appropriate temperature, humidity, capacity, uptime, and energy efficiency.
• Diagnose HVAC, cooling, and air-quality issues; support root cause analysis and implement long-term corrective actions.
• Develop preventive and predictive maintenance programs, tools, procedures, and repair schedules.
• Audit equipment and maintain detailed records to ensure compliance with ASHRAE guidelines, building codes, OSHA requirements, and company policies.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience maintaining and operating critical mechanical systems in data centers or other mission-critical facilities.
• Hands-on experience with CDU maintenance and repair, including troubleshooting and optimization.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve complex mechanical issues in high-availability environments.
• Strong understanding of mechanical energy management and efficiency practices.
• Experience with monitoring systems, predictive maintenance tools, building automation systems, and CDU diagnostic software.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field is preferred; equivalent military, trade school, or extensive hands-on experience may substitute.

Nice to have

• EPA 608 Universal Certification.
