Integrated Photonics Design Manager (Quantum Computing)

Location: On-site in Broomfield, Colorado, or Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States. Candidates must be U.S. Persons as defined in the posting and must not be nationals of China or Russia unless also U.S. citizens.

Salary: $180,000–$225,000 annually, including the bonus target.

What you will do

• Manage engineers and scientists designing and developing photonic integrated circuits for quantum computing systems.
• Collaborate on photonic technology roadmaps, advanced R&D, and multi-year project planning.
• Guide optical R&D from concept through design validation and coordinate requirements, layout, fabrication, and testing activities.
• Mentor direct reports and support career development through coaching and training.
• Identify technologies, infrastructure, projects, and resources that improve photonic design capabilities.
• Recruit and retain high-performing PIC design staff while strengthening communication between technical and management teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher.
• At least 8 years of industry experience developing and designing PIC solutions.
• At least 3 years of experience managing technical teams.
• U.S. Person status is required due to contractual requirements, including U.S. citizenship, permanent residency, green card status, asylum, or refugee status.
• On-site availability in Broomfield, CO, or Albuquerque, NM is required.
• Experience with photonic design, simulation, layout, fabrication, testing, materials, metrology, or related engineering infrastructure.

Nice to have

• Master’s or Ph.D. in photonics, optics, or applied physics.
• Experience with Lumerical, Tidy3D, RSoft, KLayout, GDSFactory, or similar tools.
• Experience designing waveguides, splitters, couplers, gratings, or active photonic components.
• Experience managing teams across multiple geographic locations and working with wavelengths from UV to infrared.
