Photonics Architect

Location: Boston, MA or Mountain View, CA, with a flexible hybrid workplace model

Salary: $150,000–$220,000 USD per year, plus equity grants and other rewards.

hirify.global develops photonics-based infrastructure for AI and high-performance computing data centers, including the 3D-stacked Passage photonics engine.

What you will do

• Define the micro-architecture of a photonic-based communication fabric, from component-level design to top-level layout.
• Propose photonic designs for modulators, receivers, multiplexers, lasers, and amplifiers.
• Work with photonic engineering teams to estimate device performance, power, and area within Passage.
• Collaborate with analog engineering teams to develop high-bandwidth photonic interconnect solutions.
• Author, review, and validate architectural specifications and technical documents.

Requirements

• PhD in electrical engineering, physics, applied physics, or a related photonics discipline.
• In-depth knowledge of photonic devices and semiconductor physics.
• Experience with integrated silicon photonics components.
• Strong problem-solving skills for technically complex problems without obvious solutions.
• Ability and willingness to collaborate across disciplines.
• Capacity to comply with federally mandated U.S. export control requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience with photonic simulation tools such as FDTD, Numerical, Verilog-A, or VPI Photonics.
