TL;DR
Production Manager (Quantum Compute) (Advanced Hardware Manufacturing): Leading high-mix, low-volume production of quantum computers and complex electromechanical, optomechanical, and ultra-high vacuum systems with an accent on technician leadership, production planning, and scalable manufacturing operations. Focus on optimizing dynamic build schedules, resolving non-conformances, improving shop-floor workflows, and coordinating supply chain, quality, and NPI activities.

Location: Onsite in Bothell, Washington, United States; travel up to 15% domestically. Employment may require U.S. Person status or applicable export-control authorization.

Base salary: $151,756–$198,688 per year, plus bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

  • Lead, resource, and develop a team of optomechanical and electrical manufacturing technicians.
  • Own production execution, customer deliveries, dynamic build plans, and real-time labor allocation.
  • Partner with Supply Chain, Inventory, Logistics, Manufacturing, Quality, and Program Management to address bottlenecks, material readiness, throughput, and corrective actions.
  • Represent Production in NPI programs and plan resources for new builds and future staffing needs.
  • Improve production processes, 5S and Lean practices, shop-floor layouts, inventory strategies, and digital tracking systems.
  • Maintain cleanroom protocols, ISO standards, laser safety compliance, and specialized component-handling practices.

Requirements

  • 5+ years managing production or manufacturing operations in a high-mix, low-volume environment such as aerospace, defense, medical devices, semiconductors, or advanced scientific instrumentation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Management, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent hands-on leadership experience in advanced technology hardware manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated people leadership, talent development, employee upskilling, and performance management experience.
  • Experience managing dynamic build plans and establishing standardized practices from legacy or uncodified processes.
  • Strong understanding of complex electromechanical and optomechanical assemblies.
  • Proficiency with ERP tools such as NetSuite, project management software such as Jira, collaborative spreadsheets, and basic data visualization tools such as Power BI.

Nice to have

  • Experience implementing, migrating, or configuring a Manufacturing Execution System or modern ERP features for a shop floor.
  • Experience scaling teams, implementing shift coverage, expanding leadership tiers, and organizing specialized technical teams.
  • Experience working in ISO-class cleanrooms, managing laser safety protocols, or handling fiber optics and UHV systems.
  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification focused on value-stream mapping and bottleneck elimination.
