Government Relations Professional (Fintech)

Location: Canada. Part-time, approximately 20 hours per week, with occasional travel within Canada and internationally. Applicants must be legally eligible to work in Canada; visa sponsorship is not available.

Salary: $45–$80 per hour

What you will do

• Build and maintain relationships with government officials, regulators, industry associations, and other stakeholders.
• Monitor legislative, regulatory, and policy developments affecting cryptocurrency, fintech, payments, AML, privacy, and financial services.
• Work with Legal, Compliance, Product, and Operations on regulatory initiatives and business readiness.
• Coordinate government-relations activities with external legal counsel and government-relations firms across operating regions.
• Review draft legislation, assess business impacts, and prepare briefing notes, presentations, consultation responses, and correspondence.
• Represent hirify.global in regulatory meetings, consultations, industry forums, licensing matters, and urgent government-related issues.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in federal government relations, public affairs, or lobbying, with an established Canadian government and regulatory network.
• Strong understanding of Canadian government processes, legislative procedures, and stakeholder-engagement strategies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of briefing notes, policy materials, and executive updates.
• Strong judgment, discretion, and ability to work independently in a fast-moving, regulated environment.
• Ability to work part-time while staying aligned with internal stakeholders and to travel occasionally in Canada and internationally.

Nice to have

• Experience with provincial governments, especially Ontario, British Columbia, or Alberta.
• Background in fintech, financial services, payments, cryptocurrency, AML, compliance, or another regulated industry.
• Experience working with regulators, industry associations, or international jurisdictions such as the European Union and Australia.
• Proficiency in French or another language.
