What you will do

• Design, develop, verify, and deploy quantum computers using trapped ions as qubits.
• Work with scientists and engineers to develop and test new quantum computing concepts.
• Collect laboratory data on system performance and characterize device properties.
• Perform design trade studies, simulations, and experimental analysis.
• Present scientific results at conferences and in research publications.

Requirements

• Completed PhD before starting the role.
• At least 4 years of experience, including PhD experience, in quantum information, qubits, atomic physics, precision spectroscopy, optics, vacuum systems, electronics, cryogenics, or laser systems.
• Must be a U.S. Person: U.S. citizen, permanent resident or green card holder, or worker granted asylum or refugee status.
• Due to U.S. Government national security requirements, candidates must not be nationals of the People's Republic of China or Russia unless they are also U.S. citizens.
• Hands-on experience building and operating devices for manipulating qubits, quantum spin systems, or cold and trapped atomic systems.
• Strong written, oral communication, and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience designing or operating quantum information-processing devices.
• Experience with laser cooling and trapping of ions or neutral atoms.
• Experience with simulation and modeling, experimental control programming, signal processing, and data analysis.
• Published research results, postdoctoral research, mentorship, organizational, or leadership experience.
