Legal & Product Engineer (AI)

Location: New York City, New York, United States; on-site

Salary: $100,000–$220,000 per year, plus significant equity

hirify.global is a startup building an AI platform for intellectual property workflows, from invention harvesting and patent generation through litigation and licensing.

What you will do

• Bring firsthand USPTO examiner experience into product discussions and shape examiner-facing workflows.
• Support expansion into direct relationships with patent offices, including the USPTO and EPO.
• Help onboard and support examiner users as the product and contracts launch.
• Partner with patent attorneys to learn and improve internal workflows and tooling.
• Contribute to customer calls and product demonstrations.

Requirements

• Registered US patent attorney or patent agent with a technical degree such as computer science or electrical engineering.
• Former USPTO patent examiner with at least 1–2 years examining patent applications.
• Currently working in private practice or in-house; not a currently active examiner and not returned to government work.
• 3–5+ years of combined experience in USPTO examination and private practice.
• Confidence in customer-facing settings, including customer calls and product demos.
• Self-directed approach and a startup mindset.

Nice to have

• Examination experience in software, AI, or electrical art units.
• Experience using AI tools in daily work.
• Software or AI-related patent drafting or prosecution experience.
• Experience at a well-regarded law firm.
