Supplier Quality Engineer

Location: Torrance, California, United States; onsite role with up to 50% travel to supplier locations and manufacturing sites

Salary: $95,800–$115,900 USD annually for California

What you will do

• Develop and maintain supplier quality management programs, including audits, assessments, material readiness reviews, and qualification activities.
• Evaluate and qualify suppliers through audits, risk analysis, and performance reviews.
• Perform root cause and failure analysis, implement corrective actions, and resolve non-conforming material issues.
• Support first article inspections, process validation, and qualification of new suppliers and components.
• Develop inspection plans and provide technical guidance and training to suppliers.
• Represent supplier quality during product development and address supplier readiness and DFM considerations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 2+ years of experience in supplier quality, manufacturing quality, or supplier development.
• Familiarity with GD&T, engineering drawings, machined parts, sheet metal, PCBs, cable assemblies, or electromechanical systems.
• Experience with calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMM reports, data analysis tools, root cause analysis, and problem-solving methodologies.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to drive supplier improvements in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations under ITAR requirements.

Nice to have

• ASQ Certified Quality Engineer or related certification.
• Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, or IPC standards.
• Experience with ERP and MES systems.
• Experience in aerospace, defense, automotive, medical device, or other highly regulated industries.
• Knowledge of PFMEA, Control Plans, and Measurement Capability Analysis.
