Location: Hawthorne, Los Angeles, CA, United States; full-time onsite presence five days a week. Relocation assistance is provided.
Salary: $95,000β$120,000 per year, dependent on academic level and demonstrated out-of-classroom experience, plus stock options.

What you will do
- Analyze large in situ datasets to understand physical mechanisms in metal additive manufacturing and hardware operation.
- Execute experiments, analyze results, and help develop and optimize printing processes.
- Perform post-build metrology and analyze tensile strength, surface roughness, and alloy microstructure.
- Generate and track quality metrics for printed customer parts, including dimensional accuracy, defect distribution, and surface roughness.
- Assist with tool qualification procedures and collaborate with mechanical, software, and simulations engineers.
- Support rapid improvement of printing technology through data analysis and machine learning.
Requirements
- Bachelorβs degree in materials science, physics, mechanical engineering, or a similar engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited university or college.
- Strong fundamentals in physics and a first-principles approach to problem-solving.
- Coursework or research experience in experimental design and statistical data analysis.
- Strong data analysis skills, including the ability to interpret large datasets.
- Experience with Python and/or MATLAB.
- Ability to work onsite full-time five days per week in Hawthorne, Los Angeles.
Nice to have
- Masterβs or PhD in materials science, physics, or a similar engineering discipline.
- Research experience in materials science, physics, or mechanical engineering.
- Process development experience in semiconductors, solar, displays, or other advanced industries.
- Experience with R, JMP, or Minitab, complex equipment, or metallurgical sample preparation and optical microscopy.
