Principal Engineer - Applications (Software Focus)

What you will do

• Promote existing and new embedded networking solutions to global automotive and industrial customers.
• Engage customers to define solutions, gather technical requirements, and provide hands-on evaluation support.
• Create technical demonstrations, proof-of-concepts, application notes, reference designs, and software examples.
• Develop early FPGA prototypes and bring them to life in application contexts.
• Create, release, and support firmware examples for 8-, 16-, and 32-bit MCUs/MPUs and competitor platforms.
• Work with marketing and hardware teams to demonstrate product differentiators at public events.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Computer Science, or a related field with 10+ years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree with 7.5+ years.
• Very good English skills are required.
• Strong embedded programming skills are required.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with automotive networking protocols including CAN, CAN-FD, LIN, FlexRay, and Automotive Ethernet.
• Advanced programming knowledge covering real-time systems, multithreading, network programming, Linux-based embedded systems, and automotive software platforms.
• Experience with Distributed Switch Architecture frameworks, network topologies, SOME/IP, DoIP, Vector CANoe, Wireshark, and network analyzers.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of multi-gigabit Ethernet switches and switching architectures.
• Knowledge of Time-Sensitive Networking standards and generalized Precision Time Protocol.
