Principal / Technologist Firmware Engineer (Embedded/FPGA)

What you will do

• Architect, develop, debug, and optimize firmware across bare-metal, RTOS, and embedded Linux platforms.
• Build board support packages, bootloaders, peripheral drivers, hardware abstraction layers, Linux kernel modules, device trees, and root filesystems.
• Design and verify FPGA logic in Verilog or VHDL and integrate firmware-FPGA interfaces with hardware teams.
• Develop host-side C/C++, Python, C#, or Qt applications for device communication, data acquisition, testing, calibration, and diagnostics.
• Lead board bring-up, system integration, and debugging with JTAG/SWD debuggers, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers.
• Provide architectural guidance, conduct code reviews, mentor engineers, and collaborate with hardware, mechanical, test, and product teams.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional embedded software or firmware development experience.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or a related discipline.
• Deep C/C++ expertise for resource-constrained targets and extensive experience with a commercial or open-source RTOS.
• Experience with Linux kernel internals, driver and kernel module development, user-space/kernel-space interfaces, and cross-compilation.
• Hands-on Verilog or VHDL development for Xilinx or Intel FPGA platforms, including synthesis, timing closure, simulation, and on-chip debugging.
• Proficiency with embedded device communication, automated test frameworks, Git, CI/CD, Make, CMake, and Yocto or Buildroot; proficient English communication is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with PCIe, USB 3.x, Ethernet, RGMII/SGMII, or MIPI.
• SystemVerilog, UVM, High-Level Synthesis, or signal and image processing experience.
• Python scripting, test automation, rapid prototyping, and Agile/Scrum experience.
• Background in storage systems, motor control, industrial systems, or IoT.
