Senior Software Engineer (Go)

Location: Remote in the United States, with the listed location of Washington, DC.

Salary: $155,000–$200,000 per year.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain core backend services and the Go-based data security platform.
• Contribute directly to the open-source OpenTDF project and help shape its future.
• Address complex data security, scalability, and distributed-systems challenges.
• Design and deploy solutions for enterprise and federal environments, including on-premise, air-gapped, and cloud-native deployments, using Terraform and GitOps tooling.
• Collaborate on Go, Java, and JavaScript SDK architecture and integration with backend services.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, pair programming, design discussions, and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with a significant focus on backend development.
• Strong proficiency in Go and experience building production-grade, scalable services.
• Experience with microservice and monolithic architectures, gRPC, REST APIs, and distributed systems.
• Production experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and GitOps tooling such as Helm and ArgoCD.
• Experience designing and implementing Terraform-based Infrastructure as Code across multi-cloud environments.
• Ability to independently own complex technical projects from design through deployment.

Nice to have

• Experience with cryptographic primitives, protocols, secure key management, and federated trust systems.
• Experience deploying to on-premise, air-gapped, sovereign-cloud, or bare-metal environments.
• Experience with ConnectRPC, OCI container standards, multi-language SDKs, or additional languages such as Java, JavaScript, Python, or Rust.
• Open-source contributions or experience maintaining an established security or data project.
• Comfort using AI coding agents in the development workflow.
