Deployment Physicist, On-premises Installation - 572

Location: Hybrid in London or Cambridge, United Kingdom; extensive international travel, including deployments of up to three months and approximately 25% travel otherwise.

What you will do

• Prepare Helios systems for shipment, relocate and install them at customer premises, and validate their performance.
• Improve installation, relocation, validation, and service plans and work instructions.
• Own qubit-based integration and validation tasks as the team’s atomic physics and qubit operations expert.
• Provide remote support and on-site service with subject matter experts and a global team.
• Participate in pre-deployment integration and validation at hirify.global.
• Support the design, execution, and deployment of future on-premises hardware offerings.

Requirements

• Completed Ph.D. required.
• At least eight years of postgraduate experience, including an M.S. or Ph.D., as a technical contributor or leader in atomic physics or quantum computing.
• Eligibility to complete international travel required.
• Due to U.S. national security requirements, candidates must not be nationals of the People’s Republic of China or Russia unless they are also U.S. citizens.
• Strong knowledge of trapped-ion technology, high-performance quantum computing, and technical hardware integration and validation.
• Experience with lasers, laser cooling, atom trapping, cryogenics, ultra-high vacuum systems, analog and digital electronics, laboratory hardware control, Python, physical modelling, and data analysis.

Nice to have

• Atomic physics research and development demonstrated through scholarly publications, successful program execution, or launched products.
• Experience creating and maintaining standard work documentation, test plans, troubleshooting guides, and configuration documentation.
