Privacy Counsel (AI)

Location: Fully in-person between the Palo Alto headquarters and San Francisco office

Salary: $190K–$250K annually, plus equity

What you will do

• Partner with Product and Engineering throughout the product lifecycle.
• Advise on data collection, retention, consent, and privacy-by-design.
• Own the privacy and data protection program, including policies, DPAs, data mapping, and compliance.
• Build scalable templates, playbooks, and self-service tools for the legal function.
• Negotiate DPAs and data licensing deals and provide pragmatic guidance for AI products.

Requirements

• Approximately 5+ years of privacy, data protection, or product counseling experience in-house or at a top law firm.
• J.D. degree and active U.S. bar membership; California membership is preferred.
• Working knowledge of legal frameworks affecting AI products, including GDPR, CCPA, and emerging AI and state privacy laws.
• Technical fluency with data pipelines, anonymization, and zero-retention architectures.
• Strong judgment, curiosity about AI products, negotiation skills, and a collaborative working style.
