General Counsel (AI/SaaS)

Salary: $240,000–$300,000 per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Build and lead the legal function as the primary legal advisor.
• Manage corporate structure, board governance, cap table matters, equity administration, and fundraising support.
• Draft, negotiate, and manage enterprise SaaS agreements, including MSAs, DPAs, order forms, vendor agreements, and AI/data-processing terms.
• Create scalable contract templates and playbooks for Sales and Customer Success.
• Partner with People and Talent on employment law, policy review, workplace investigations, ACA, and multi-state compliance.
• Manage intellectual property, outside counsel, legal spend, regulatory inquiries, disputes, and risk escalations.

Requirements

• JD and active California bar membership.
• 7+ years of legal experience, including in-house experience at a high-growth SaaS or technology company.
• Direct experience with data privacy and AI regulatory frameworks, including GDPR and CCPA.
• Demonstrated experience negotiating enterprise SaaS commercial agreements.
• Ability to operate independently without a large legal team and use sound judgment when engaging outside counsel.

Nice to have

• Experience as first in-house counsel or building a legal function from scratch.
• Exposure to international employment structures, EOR arrangements, and contractor classification across multiple countries.
• Experience at a company using or building AI products, with familiarity with AI-specific legal and regulatory questions.
