Automation Engineer (AI)

Location: San Francisco, CA, United States; work arrangement: Hybrid

Base salary: $140,000–$276,000 annually, with potential additional bonuses, incentives, and equity.

What you will do

• Select the orchestration or iPaaS platform and define integration patterns, data contracts, and authentication models.
• Build integrations and identity-driven provisioning across Okta or Entra, Rippling, NetSuite, Slack, and Notion.
• Ship AI agents and automations for hire-to-retire workflows, quick wins, and help-desk deflection.
• Turn business jobs-to-be-done into monitored, reliable production automations with runbooks.
• Partner with Business Systems and connect systems across global offices.

Requirements

• 5+ years of production experience building integrations and/or automations using APIs, webhooks, SCIM, or event-driven patterns.
• Hands-on experience with Workato, n8n, Tray, or a similar iPaaS.
• End-to-end experience shipping AI or LLM agents and automations, including orchestration, workflow, and prompt design.
• Strong engineering fundamentals and scripting skills in Python.
• Experience with monitoring, error handling, runbooks, identity and authentication systems, SSO, OAuth, SCIM, HRIS, ERP, and collaboration platforms.
