Data Program Manager (AI)

What you will do

• Translate ambiguous research data requests into scoped, sequenced acquisition plans with quality standards, timelines, and clear parameters.
• Manage vendors across data types, maintain relationships, and negotiate favorable commercial terms.
• Lead contractors and human data-collection teams while establishing and enforcing quality measures.
• Run weekly data-needs reviews and forecasts, prioritize competing requirements, and surface trade-offs to leadership.
• Partner with Research, applied ML, and leadership to maintain the data roadmap and identify risks four to six weeks before model runs.
• Track quality and throughput metrics, manage batch QA, and run retrospectives on data impact, cost, and repeatability.

Requirements

• 5+ years of program or product management experience at a technical company, including at least 2 years in AI, ML, or data-intensive work.
• Ability to read ML research papers and understand the research objectives and supporting data requirements.
• Working knowledge of SQL and basic data analysis.
• Experience negotiating with external vendors and reducing costs.
• Ability to run structured stand-ups, maintain clear documentation, and deliver against changing priorities.
• Track record of driving cross-functional programs at speed and holding stakeholders accountable.

Nice to have

• Experience as a TPM or program manager at a frontier or applied research lab.
• Background in large-scale data labeling, human data collection, or RLHF programs.
• Familiarity with AI evaluation methodology or rubric design.
• Experience as an early-stage company's first hire in a functional area.
