Product Quality Engineer

Location: San Francisco, United States; hybrid. Requires up to 50% international travel to manufacturing sites.

Salary: $120,000–$156,000 per year, plus equity grants.

What you will do

• Own product quality from new product introduction through sustaining production, customer support, and end-of-support phases.
• Provide manufacturing input for product and engineering designs, driving design for manufacturability and testability with cross-functional teams and suppliers.
• Coordinate supplier failure analysis, root-cause investigations, and corrective and preventive actions using 8D, CAPA, and FMEA.
• Improve manufacturing processes, quality standards, supplier selection, and cost-reduction initiatives.
• Establish and monitor quality KPIs, dashboards, and reliability metrics across contract manufacturers and suppliers.
• Enforce quality gates through ECO reviews, configuration changes, NPI build reviews, design verification, and production ramp.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 6+ years of experience in product quality, field quality, or manufacturing engineering in a high-tech operations environment.
• Experience with PCBA, subassembly, and system-level manufacturing, including hardware validation, debugging, and failure analysis in server or storage environments.
• Expertise in 8D, 5 Whys, DFx, PFMEA, reliability engineering, and ongoing reliability testing procedures.
• Experience with analytics dashboards, performance metrics, project management frameworks, and continuous improvement in a contract manufacturing environment.
• Strong project management and technical issue-resolution skills.

Nice to have

• Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification.
• Experience with Agile PLM or Netsuite ERP.
