Manufacturing Engineer

Salary: $150,000–$200,000 per year

What you will do

• Own manufacturing engineering for parts transitioning from design into production, including tooling, processes, and production responsibility.
• Build design-to-manufacturing handoffs for evolving designs and determine which elements are ready to systematize.
• Design functional end-to-end test fixtures and protocols for quality verification on the production line.
• Design jigs, fixtures, and assembly aids for delicate hand assembly involving soft goods, heat-sealed plastics, and light soldering.
• Introduce automation and semi-automation to improve production speed, safety, and consistency.
• Build work instructions, revision practices, production documentation, and a growing manufacturing engineering team.

Requirements

• Approximately 5+ years of engineering experience, preferably in manufacturing, with experience in NPI and assembly.
• Senior individual contributor experience and the willingness to hire, mentor, and lead a team.
• Hands-on experience designing functional test fixtures and test protocols.
• Strong mechanical and pneumatic fixturing and assembly-aid design skills.
• Experience building repeatable production around designs that are still evolving, with sound judgment and flexibility.
• Ability to work on-site in Redwood Shores, California.

Nice to have

• Experience with soft goods, heat sealing, web handling, or other delicate non-rigid materials.
• Controls or mechatronics experience, including PLCs, vision systems, or custom semi-automated stations.
• Prior people management or team-building experience.
• Supplier and vendor management, incoming quality, or experience establishing quality and documentation systems.
