TL;DR
Electro-Mechanical Systems Technician (Aerospace): Building, assembling, modifying, and testing prototype, ground-support, and flight hardware for off-planet construction with an accent on mechanical, electrical, optical, and thermal/fluid systems. Focus on integrating and troubleshooting high-reliability aerospace systems, performing environmental testing, and designing fixtures and tooling for rapid development.

Location: Onsite in Austin, Texas, United States, at hirify.global's local laboratories

What you will do

  • Assemble mechanical, electrical, optical, and thermal/fluid systems for flight hardware, ground-support equipment, and prototypes.
  • Set up and test systems from subsystem bench tests through environmental testing, including TVAC, vibration, and EMI/EMC.
  • Interpret schematics, drawings, specifications, work instructions, and test procedures, including early-stage engineering concepts.
  • Document assembly, integration, and test work while troubleshooting, debugging, and reworking systems with engineers.
  • Design and implement fixtures, tooling, and low-level prototypes to support development.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory, material-handling, and calibrated equipment, including forklifts and overhead cranes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience in manufacturing, aerospace, machine integration, or a related field.
  • Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, written instructions, and test procedures.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, including torque wrenches, crimpers, and cable tools.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and basic computer proficiency with Windows and G Suite.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and handle materials weighing up to 50 lb unassisted.

Nice to have

  • Technician experience in aerospace, defense, automotive, or high-reliability manufacturing.
  • Experience with multi-axis robotic systems, soldering, harnessing, and aerospace environmental testing.
  • Familiarity with cleanroom operations, preventative maintenance, and AS9100 or equivalent quality systems.
  • Industry certification, trade-school training, or a related degree.
  • CAD experience, preferably SolidWorks.
