TL;DR
Electro-Mechanical Technician (Aerospace): Assembling and testing avionics, PCB assemblies, wire harnesses, and electro-mechanical flight hardware for Neutron launch vehicle components with an accent on precision manufacturing, soldering, electrical integration, and prototype builds. Focus on fabricating first-article assemblies, validating parts lists, supporting production process development, and verifying hardware functionality for space missions.

Location: Pasadena, California, United States; onsite work with the ability to commute to buildings required.

Hourly pay range: $30–$40 USD per hour in California.

What you will do

  • Perform mechanical and electrical assembly of PCB assemblies and flight hardware.
  • Build electrical subassemblies and fabricate wire harnesses, including first-article and prototype assemblies.
  • Execute through-hole and SMT soldering and desoldering operations.
  • Support conformal coating, masking, epoxy application, mechanical integration, and electrical testing.
  • Validate parts lists, inspect hardware with portable measuring devices, and document verification results.
  • Assist with production process development for first-time manufacturing runs while maintaining shop cleanliness and organization.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED with relevant electro-mechanical assembly experience.
  • Experience fabricating harnesses and electro-mechanical assemblies, including prototype development and first-article builds.
  • Experience performing electronic testing and inspection using portable measuring devices.
  • Ability to read and follow schematics, engineering drawings, circuit layouts, and parts lists.
  • Proficiency in through-hole and SMT soldering and desoldering, along with computer and Microsoft Office skills.
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements; U.S. office roles are subject to ITAR eligibility and applicable U.S. work authorization requirements.

Nice to have

  • Associate degree in electronics, mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Certification or experience with NASA-STD-8739.3, IPC-610, J-STD-001, or equivalent standards.
  • Cleanroom, aerospace, avionics, flight hardware, or controlled manufacturing experience.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 or similar quality management systems.
  • Strong attention to detail, accurate documentation, and independent problem-solving skills.
