Welding Manufacturing Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Chatsworth, California; on-site. The role requires access to ITAR/EAR-controlled information, so candidates must meet U.S. person requirements under ITAR and EAR regulations.

What you will do

• Design, develop, optimize, validate, and implement welding processes for prototype and production environments.
• Design and qualify weld tooling, fixtures, production equipment, and manufacturing methods for complex metallic assemblies.
• Analyze manufacturability, welding performance, structural integrity, quality, cost, process capability, and throughput.
• Investigate manufacturing and weld quality issues, determine root causes, and implement corrective and preventive solutions.
• Create welding procedures, engineering specifications, process documentation, work instructions, and manufacturing standards.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineering, product design, manufacturing, quality, production, and supply chain teams on DFM, design reviews, validation, and production readiness.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, welding, aerospace, or a related engineering discipline.
• 3+ years of manufacturing or welding engineering experience in production environments.
• Strong knowledge of AWS D17.1 or comparable welding specifications and engineering standards.
• Experience designing weld tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing equipment.
• Proficiency with CAD platforms such as SolidWorks, Creo, Siemens NX, CATIA, or similar tools.
• Ability to perform engineering analysis, solve complex manufacturing problems independently, and communicate technical recommendations to cross-functional teams.

Nice to have

• Experience in aerospace, defense, robotics, or advanced manufacturing.
• Experience with robotic, laser, automated welding, or other advanced joining technologies.
• Knowledge of structural weldments, pressure vessels, tanks, AS9100, ISO 9001, GD&T, or DFM.
• Experience with PFMEA, process validation, statistical process control, root cause analysis, ERP/MRP systems, or engineering change management.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or Value Stream Mapping.
