Construction Quality Engineer (Nuclear Construction)

Location: Oak Ridge, TN — 5 days a week onsite. Standard schedule is 8:00am–5:00pm ET, Monday–Friday. Travel is up to 10% as needed.

Salary: $100,000–$125,000 for Level III or $130,000–$155,000 for Level IV per year.

What you will do

• Implement construction quality oversight plans, Construction Quality Management Plans, and Inspection and Test Plans for TRISO-X.
• Inspect construction activities, materials, equipment, contractor work, and supplied products for compliance with specifications, standards, and approved drawings.
• Coordinate witness and hold points with subcontractors, clients, quality teams, utilities, and governmental authorities.
• Identify, report, and control nonconforming work or products through corrective action and disposition.
• Review audits, inspection reports, test packages, contractor submittals, quality records, and performance metrics.
• Represent quality in construction meetings, lead toolbox talks and lessons learned, and support continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, nuclear engineering, or a similar field, or relevant quality certification and equivalent experience.
• At least 2 years of construction experience, including civil construction, with demonstrated full-time QA/QC management experience and design-build contracts.
• Experience or documented training in construction quality assurance and quality control.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 quality systems and program implementation.
• Strong understanding of construction processes, nonconformance management, inspection techniques, and tooling.
• Relevant experience is typically demonstrated by 5 years for Level III or 10 years for Level IV.

Nice to have

• Advanced knowledge or experience in nondestructive engineering.
• Experience in nuclear construction or chemical plant construction.
• Quality certification from ASQ, ASCE, AWS CWI, or ANSI Level II Mechanical certification.
