Senior AI Engineer Software Engineer Government Technology (Agentic AI)

Location: Remote within the United States, with periodic travel to hirify.global HQ in Austin, Texas as projects require. Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.

Salary: $192,640–$264,880 annually.

What you will do

• Design and build agentic AI systems that automate complex, multi-step workflows across the software platform.
• Develop LLM-powered features and products using foundation models and APIs such as Anthropic and OpenAI.
• Architect multi-agent pipelines, tool-use systems, function-calling workflows, and Model Context Protocol integrations.
• Build RAG systems covering document ingestion, chunking, embeddings, and vector retrieval.
• Collaborate with software and domain teams to identify AI automation opportunities and ship products.
• Own prototyping, evaluation, deployment, iteration, and technical guidance for AI features.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with a strong backend or full-stack foundation.
• Production experience building and shipping products with LLMs and agentic frameworks.
• Proficiency in TypeScript and/or Python.
• Experience with prompt engineering, context management, LLM reasoning, tool use, function calling, and agent orchestration.
• Experience designing structured evaluations to measure and improve AI system performance, including code-generation agents.
• Experience in or alongside government, defense, or regulated environments and eligibility for a U.S. Government security clearance.

Nice to have

• MCP server development and integration experience.
• Familiarity with vector databases such as pgvector, Pinecone, or Weaviate.
• Experience with fine-tuning, RLHF, model evaluation pipelines, structured output generation, or LLM-based data extraction.
• Knowledge of ML fundamentals, including embeddings, transformers, and attention mechanisms.
• Familiarity with AWS, serverless infrastructure, or the architecture, engineering, and construction industry.
