Senior Design Engineer (Robotics)

Location: Metzingen / Riederich, Germany. On-site.

What you will do

• Lead mechanical design projects for MiPA and its robotic subsystems.
• Develop robust mechanical architectures and production-ready designs from concept through production release.
• Create and maintain CAD models, technical drawings, product structures, bills of materials, and engineering documentation.
• Perform structural, stability, durability, and tolerance analyses while driving Design for Manufacturing and Design for Assembly.
• Coordinate development across mechanical, electronics, software, manufacturing, and sourcing teams; support prototypes, testing, validation, and industrialization.
• Manage engineering changes, revisions, configuration control, technical decisions, risk assessments, and design reviews.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a comparable field.
• 10+ years of experience in mechanical product development.
• Experience developing complex electromechanical systems.
• Strong expertise in mechanical design, structural analysis, and engineering documentation.
• Solid understanding of machining, sheet metal, castings, injection molding, and assembly processes.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks.
• Familiarity with DFM/DFA methodologies.
• Experience in robotics, automation, medical devices, automotive, aerospace, or similar industries.

Nice to have

• Experience with SolidWorks PDM.
• Experience with mobile robotic or service robotic systems.
• Knowledge of Creo/Windchill.
• Prior technical leadership or project ownership experience.
