R&D Assembly Team Lead (Robotics)

What you will do

• Lead, coach, and develop R&D engineers and technicians while planning prototype builds and setting priorities.
• Own prototype unit assembly from mechanical construction and electrical wiring through commissioning.
• Diagnose complex mechatronic and electrical faults and establish structured troubleshooting practices.
• Coordinate with engineers and designers to identify assembly and manufacturability issues and feed build insights into product design.
• Set standards for build documentation, work instructions, testing, and quality checks.
• Run operations, infrastructure, equipment, maintenance, parts availability, and site safety for the Munich R&D center.

Requirements

• Completed apprenticeship in electrical engineering or mechatronics, ideally with a Meister or state-certified technician qualification, or a related degree with substantial hands-on experience.
• Several years of hands-on manufacturing or production experience, preferably with prototype builds, pilot series, or production ramp-ups.
• Strong expertise in schematics, wiring, control cabinets, measurement, and electrical fault finding.
• Experience leading technicians and R&D engineers or managing a manufacturing or production team.
• Strong knowledge of ESD protection, VDE standards, and occupational safety requirements including UVV/DGUV.
• Proficiency in English and German is required.

Nice to have

• Elektrofachkraft or verantwortliche Elektrofachkraft (VEFK) qualification or experience.
• Experience taking products from prototype to series production, including NPI, pre-series, or ramp-up stages.
• Background in special-purpose machinery, robotics, or automation.
• Experience with PLC or motion-control systems, rapid prototyping, 3D printing, mechanical assembly, or workshop infrastructure.
