Process Engineer (Warehouse Automation)

Location: Hybrid in Berlin or Munich, Germany; regular on-site presence at fulfillment centers required

What you will do

• Identify automation and process-redesign opportunities across the fulfillment network using operational data and floor-level observations.
• Build business cases covering throughput gains, labor impact, payback periods, and capex/opex estimates.
• Own solutions end to end across physical automation, software and control changes, or combined implementations.
• Lead design, testing, installation, integration, and piloting while coordinating internal teams, vendors, and contractors.
• Manage procurement activities, vendor evaluation, negotiations, handover documentation, SOPs, support processes, and operational training.
• Standardize project outcomes into reusable playbooks and contribute insights to the automation roadmap.

Requirements

• Degree in engineering or a technical/analytical field, equivalent vocational training, or relevant hands-on experience.
• 3+ years of experience in warehouse automation and process improvement, including end-to-end project ownership.
• Experience with robotics, AMRs, AutoStore, sorters, conveyors, packing systems, or comparable automation.
• Strong analytical, business modeling, project management, negotiation, and vendor-engagement skills.
• Professional working proficiency in English, written and spoken.
• Willingness to spend regular time on-site at fulfillment centers in Germany.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with control logic, orchestration software, or WMS integration.
• Working knowledge of Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
