TL;DR
Avionics Technician (Aerospace): Assembling, repairing, integrating, troubleshooting, and testing spacecraft avionics hardware with an accent on precision PCBA rework, component-level fault isolation, and flight hardware workmanship. Focus on board-level repairs, harness integration, environmental testing, and validating avionics subsystems for satellite production.

Location: Los Angeles, United States; in-person work at the Playa Vista office

Compensation: $37–$54 per hour for Level 4, excluding additional benefits.

hirify.global manufactures satellite buses at scale using software, vertically integrated hardware, and manufacturing-focused spacecraft platforms for applications including Earth observation and communications.

What you will do

  • Assemble, rework, test, and integrate avionics PCBAs for satellite and spacecraft development and production hardware.
  • Troubleshoot electrical anomalies through component-level failure analysis, signal verification, functional testing, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Perform precision soldering and advanced board repairs, including trace repair, pad reconstruction, via repair, and solder mask modifications.
  • Integrate avionics assemblies such as flight computers and power distribution units into spacecraft systems.
  • Support harness integration and rework, including connector installation, crimping, splicing, wire repair, routing, and shield termination.
  • Document assembly, rework, test results, nonconformances, and hardware discrepancies while supporting environmental testing and process improvements.

Requirements

  • U.S. Person status is required due to access to export-controlled data.
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in avionics or electronics assembly, PCBA rework, troubleshooting, or integration in aerospace, defense, or another high-reliability environment.
  • Advanced precision soldering and PCBA rework experience with SMT, through-hole, fine-pitch, and micro-miniature components.
  • Experience with board-level repairs, component-level troubleshooting, fault isolation, oscilloscopes, multimeters, and other electrical test equipment.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, assembly drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Experience with ESD-sensitive hardware, FOD controls, precision rework equipment, and microscopes, with strong attention to safety and quality.

Nice to have

  • Satellite or spacecraft flight hardware experience and NASA Class 1 or Class 2 flight hardware PCBA experience.
  • IPC J-STD-001 Space Applications, IPC-A-610 Class 3, or IPC-7711/7721 certifications.
  • BGA/CSP rework, micro-miniature soldering, harness integration, and IPC/WHMA-A-620 or AS13002 experience.
  • Experience with MIL-STD-1553, SpaceWire, CAN bus, thermal vacuum, vibration, shock testing, cleanrooms, or ANSI/ESD S20.20.
