Staff Software Engineer (User Experiences) (AI)

Location: London, UK; minimum 3 days per week on site at the office near Angel station

Salary: £120,000–£160,000 per year

What you will do

• Own end-to-end squad delivery within Product Engineering and drive predictable, high-quality product outcomes.
• Build the next generation of dynamic user interfaces and human-to-machine interfaces for lab automation.
• Own and evolve part of the technical architecture and set product engineering direction.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Design, Data & AI, Customer Success, and Sales leadership on challenges, initiatives, and roadmap.
• Lead, mentor, hire, and develop senior Product Engineers while maintaining a high execution standard.
• Introduce scalable operating systems and AI-native, automation-first ways of working to improve team velocity and throughput.

Requirements

• More than 10 years of engineering experience, including more than 6 years building products.
• Demonstrable experience delivering highly complex products and building complex, dynamic interfaces using a fullstack approach.
• Strong knowledge of JavaScript and TypeScript; Go is beneficial for the role.
• Experience leading or managing multiple senior engineers in a hands-on technical leadership capacity.
• Proven use of AI and automation in day-to-day engineering work.
• London-based and able to work from the office at least 3 days per week.
