Software Engineer II (AWS/TypeScript)

Location: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; hybrid work model with onsite work at least 50% of the time for employees within commuting distance of a hirify.global office

Salary: CAD 90,000–107,000 per year

What you will do

• Design and build secure, scalable full-stack services using TypeScript, Node.js, AWS serverless technologies, and event-driven patterns.
• Own services in production by implementing observability, monitoring alerts, and responding to operational issues.
• Build infrastructure as code with AWS CDK and improve CI/CD for safe, frequent releases.
• Design RESTful APIs with clear contracts and maintainable versioning for internal consumers.
• Develop unit, integration, and end-to-end tests as part of the delivery process.
• Contribute to architecture discussions and use AI tools for coding, debugging, testing, and research while validating their output.

Requirements

• 2–3 years of professional software engineering experience in an agile, full-stack-focused environment.
• Strong full-stack fundamentals, including request lifecycles, data persistence, error handling, and maintainable code.
• Professional experience with Node.js, TypeScript, SQL, REST API design, and CI/CD.
• Understanding of cloud-managed services, scalability, infrastructure ownership, and infrastructure-as-code concepts.
• Experience with unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
• Ownership of software delivery from implementation and deployment through production support, plus the ability to evaluate AI-generated output.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS Lambda, S3, SQS, DynamoDB, EventBridge, event buses, or pub/sub systems.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform, AWS CDK, or similar infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Experience with identity or entitlement systems such as OAuth 2.0, SCIM, or OIDC.
• Familiarity with MCP, AI-integrated full-stack services, or multi-tenant SaaS platforms.
