Senior Mechanical Engineer (Lunar Systems)

Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; onsite or hybrid. The department is based in Mojave, California. Travel up to 5%, including possible overnight travel within the United States.

Base salary: $120,000–$150,000 per year, excluding benefits and bonus or incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Lead a team of mechanical engineers working on primary and secondary structures and mechanisms.
• Coordinate daily tasks and establish tools, methods, and engineering best practices.
• Design and analyze structural and mechanism components and assemblies.
• Review CAD drawings, engineering analyses, and test reports for compliance with standards.
• Create and execute test plans, document results, and present technical and programmatic content.
• Manage vendors and component procurement to meet quality, cost, and schedule objectives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and at least 5 years of experience in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• Experience designing structural and mechanism components and assemblies.
• Knowledge of analyzing components exposed to harsh environments, including vibration, shock, and acoustic loads.
• Experience managing vendors and component procurement.
• Applicants must be a U.S. Person under ITAR and EAR requirements and must be eligible to obtain any required export authorizations.
• Ability to lift, move, or carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• Experience developing hardware and systems for aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicles.
