Mechanical Engineer V - Test (Aerospace)

Location: Reno, Nevada, United States. Applicants must be U.S. Citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance. Travel of approximately 10% is required.

Salary: $149,815–$207,385 USD annual base salary.

What you will do

• Lead large-scale, high-risk test programs, including assembly, integration, data acquisition, instrumentation, and test strategy development.
• Design complex test setups and custom fixtures, troubleshoot instrumentation, optimize testing processes, and analyze measurement uncertainty.
• Create detailed 2D and 3D CAD models, assemblies, and technical drawings using GD&T principles.
• Support verification and validation, requirements analysis, program planning, risk management, and safety activities.
• Perform CFD, structural, dynamic, and thermal analyses and apply engineering judgment to interpret results.
• Analyze solid rocket motor performance, propellant combustion, ballistics, ignition systems, and related electromechanical systems.

Requirements

• 10–15 years of mechanical engineering experience.
• Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a relevant engineering discipline; equivalent experience may be considered.
• Extensive knowledge of test assembly and integration, measurement techniques, statistical and time-series analysis, and technical documentation.
• Experience with CAD modeling, complex assemblies, technical drawings, and GD&T.
• U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain the required U.S. security clearance.
• Ability to travel approximately 10% of the time.

Nice to have

• Rocket motor design and testing experience.
• Current DoD Top Secret SCI security clearance.
• Master of Science in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a relevant engineering discipline.
