Senior Software Engineer - Robotics

Location: Union City, California, United States; based in Union City at least three days per week. No relocation assistance is available.

Salary: $135,000–$235,000 per year, plus benefits and equity.

hirify.global is an early-stage robotics company developing automation software for autonomous forklifts and customer deployments.

What you will do

• Design and implement core automation features from initial concept through full-scale deployment.
• Develop solutions for infrastructure-free navigation using classical robotics, motion planning, SLAM, and statistical data fusion.
• Improve vehicle and fleet performance, scalability, safety, and reliability for deployed products.
• Work across motion planning, vehicle command, perception, prediction, and planning pipelines to resolve complex system issues.
• Use AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Gemini, GitHub Copilot, and LLMs to accelerate prototyping, testing, and deployment.
• Provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to architectural and product direction.

Requirements

• 7+ years of hands-on industry robotics experience developing software for shipped products.
• Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative discipline.
• Excellent object-oriented programming skills in C++ and strong development skills in Python.
• Experience with computational geometry, sensor processing, LiDAR, vision, and handling real-world noise and uncertainty.
• Ability to take features from ideation through deployment and communicate complex technical ideas to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work in the United States and work from the Union City location at least three days per week.

Nice to have

• Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Robotics, or a related quantitative field.
• Experience with perception systems, motion planning, vehicle dynamics, control systems, and planning pipeline integration.
• Technical leadership, mentoring, and experience supporting shipped products.
• Experience with safety systems and certification requirements such as ISO 3691, ISO 13849, and CE Marking.
